Cy Tucker (7th February 1943 - 24th March 2020), Complete 60’s Recordings Tribute
Cy Tucker began his musical career fronting Cy And The Cimarrons who performed alongside The Beatles. Around November 1961 he joined Earl Preston And The TT’s, one of the top bands in the city who recorded tracks for Oriole and Fontana.
It was with while he was still with the band his first solo single ’My Prayer’ was released, selling 30,000 copies.
Cy left the group in January 1964 and formed Cy Tucker And The Friars. Tucker recorded two more singles for Fontana, ’Let Me Call You Sweetheart’ and ’My Friend’ before retiring from being a professional musician.
Cy Tucker And The Friars became one of the best known acts on the Liverpool circuit for over 20 years, establishing Tucker as a loved and recognised name in the city.
