Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam (The Golem: How He Came into the World) is an extremely layered film with a deeply nuanced message and a rich cultural legacy -- far too rich for a short tribute and movie edit. This is why I decided to concentrate on the creation process of the creature (the Golem), without including the rest of the story. Against the backdrop of dark sorcery and with a helping hand from the great Duke of hell, Astaroth, Darvaza’s hellish godlessness assumes an even more sinister tone. 🎞️ Based on a famous Jewish folktale, in 16th-century Prague, a rabbi creates the Golem - a giant creature made of clay. Using sorcery, he brings the creature to life in order to protect the Jews of Prague from persecution.
