Rani Karnaa’s Sitar Jugalbandi performed by her senior disciple Sohini Debnath

A jugalbandi or a friendly rivalry between the stringed instrument, the sitar and percussion is mirrored through a jugalbandi among the dancers themselves. This composition incorporates the Baj Ang of the stringed instruments -- Gat and Jhala and also the unique pure dance elements of Kathak in an innovative manner. There are no supporting lyrics: thus the ideas are rendered through variety of imageries representing nature’s beauty.
