Congress’ Sonia Gandhi’s heartfelt message to Rae Bareli as she files RS nomination
After winning Lok Sabha elections five times, Sonia Gandhi decided to vacate the Rae Bareli Parliamentary constituency. On February 14, Sonia Gandhi filed nomination for the Upper House from Rajasthan. Gandhi wrote a heartfelt message to the people of Rae Bareli as she bid adieu to her Lok Sabha constituency. “My family is incomplete in Delhi. It completes when I meet you people in Rae Bareli. This relation is very old and I have received it as a good luck from my in-laws. Because of ageing and health, I will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. After this decision, I won’t get a chance to serve you directly. But this is sure that my mind, soul will stay with you people only,” she wrote in the letter. Sonia Gandhi has served as Congress President for almost 22 years between 1998 and 2022. Rae Bareli has been a bastion of the Gandhi family as Feroze Gandhi, former PM Indira Gandhi have also won the elections from this seat.
