Palestinian politician: ‘They want democracy built on race only for the Jews’

Sami Abu Shehadeh, head of the Palestinian Balad party and former member of Knesset, recorded a video after he and other Palestinian leaders who are Israeli citizens were detained on 9 November after holding a demonstration against Israel’s war in Gaza. Abu Shehadeh says that the Israel state is “deteriorating towards fascism”, and that there have been human rights violations against Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as the Palestinian citizens of Israel. He says Palestinians are being prevented from exercising their freedom of expression and are not given the right to hold any demonstrations.
