One of my friends lives in one of the apartments in this picture, its a part of the city called Katerinky. It happened on 15th September 2024 in ONE day. The WHOLE city and many other were completely submerged. There were whole houses under water in many regions. It is the worst flood in the history of our country. Last big one was 1997, but nothing comparee to now. They built dams around the river called Opavice, where I grew up. These dams are now torn apart, split in half. That’s how much water ran through the country. I could not believe the pictures and videos my family and friends were sending me. Never could I imagine this in central Europe. Apparently there are more heavy rains coming, it’s very current. People still have not fully recovered.
