Mother’s Finest - Piece Of The Rock - TROS TOP 50 (1978) - TopPop

Mother’s Finest is an American band from Atlanta, Georgia, founded by the singer couple Joyce ’Baby Jean’ Kennedy and Glenn ’Doc’ Murdock in the early 1970s, whose music style can best be described as a mix of rock, pop, funk and soul. In Mother’s Finest, the vocal and instrumental talents of the band members were fused into a unique blend of funky and expressive rock. Joyce Kennedy, born Joyce Washington, made her first singles in the years 1963-1965. At sixteen she had a number 1 hit with the song “I still love you“. The band was never successful in the United States, in contrast to the Netherlands where, partly thanks to the deceased Dutch diskjockey Alfred Lagarde, who was a big fan of the group, concerts were well attended. ’Piece Of The Rock’ ended up in seventh place in the Dutch Top 40 in 1978. This video was first broadcast on 13 June 1978 on the TROS Top 50 Rock Planet show. Watch our great music videos ❯ More TopPop?
