Adolf Míšek’s probably best composition, with a touch of that “magic“ because of which we love fine art so much. Míšek lived and worked most of his lifetime in Vienna and in Prague. Born as a Czech, he composed under the strong influence of Czech folk music and oeuvre by Antonin Dvořák. In the later years he also used several solutions rather typical for the compositions by Beethoven and Brahms. Míšek wrote diverse chamber music pieces and several other solo pieces for double bass and piano. Often performed are first and second (out of three) sonatas for double bass and piano, fine composed pieces with many beautiful melodies.
