ASSINIBOINE TRIBE HISTORY

In the spring of 1805 the Lewis & Clark Expedition passed through the entire state of Montana without seeing a single American Indian. Ironically they were seen and talked about but avoided. While the Expedition feared the warriors of the plains, the Indians feared the diseases they carried. This film is about the Assiniboine sighting of Lewis and Clark. The film was made possible by a National Park Service grant and was reenacted by Assiniboine tribal members speaking their native Assiniboine (Nakoda)
