Sandstorm hits San Juan, Puerto Rico

A dust (sand) storm is an atmospheric phenomenon in the form of the transfer of large amounts of dust (soil particles, grains of sand) by wind from the earth’s surface in a layer several meters high with a significant deterioration in horizontal visibility. At the same time, dust (sand) rises into the air and at the same time dust settles over a large area. Depending on the color of the soil in a given region, distant objects take on a grayish, yellowish, or reddish hue. It usually occurs when the soil surface is dry and the wind speed is 10 m/s or more.
