French Protesters Unleash Anger at President Emmanuel Macron

Protesters in Paris set electric bicycles and chairs on fire Monday May 1, as workers demonstrated in anger at President Emmanuel Macron’s increase in the retirement age during a Labour Day rally. Police fired tear gas and scuffled with protesters in the capital, as they were trying to escape the fumes. Last month, Macron raised the retirement age by two years to 64.
