In his introduction to this performance, bassist, composer, and Heifetz Institute teacher Sam Suggs says, “as a musical paleontologist, that is the tooth of a dinosaur. So I needed to figure out what this thing ate.“ Thus began what Suggs describes as a decade-long quest to realize and recreate Haydn’s lost concerto in a historically authentic style.
