Join us on the first day of NaNoWriMo for two hours of writing prompts, how-to tips, leftover Halloween costumes/ candy, and special guests, including Emma Kress, author of DANGEROUS PLAY. Reach your daily word-count goal (and help support NaNoWriMo on Donation Weekend) in the company of new friends! Prompt #1, 5 minutes: Use the word “jamboree” (or some other kind of party). “Hootenanny”? “Soiree”? Your choice! Prompt #2, 8 minutes: For the next scene or chapter, get a piece of gum stuck to a character (in their hair, on their shoe, in their clothes…). If your world doesn’t have gum, use something gum-like. Add that extra bit of tension as the reader wonders, will they ever get that gum unstuck? Prompt #3, 10 minutes: Trick or treat!
