⏳Ordinary Leningrad locals saved the look of the city during the blockade years. They hid significant buildings, monuments, golden spires and domes. Hundreds of architects, specialists and even climbers worked on preserving the cultural heritage. The latter worked in the most difficult conditions — under shelling and in strong winds they painted and covered the gilded roofs with camouflage covers. This is how they managed to save many masterpieces. On World Architecture Day we show the cultural feats of Soviet people in an excerpt from ’Leningrad Unbreakable’ by Dmitry Khrustalev and Ekaterina Kitaitseva. #history FOLLOW ?
