Lou Thesz vs Mike Marconi (1976)

One of the biggest names to stop by George Cannon’s Superstars of Wrestling was Lou Thesz. Despite his advanced age of 60, the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion still plied at his trade through the end of the 1970s (not to mention a one-off match at 74 in 1990 against Masa Chono). Thesz worked some shots for Superstars in 1976 as Cannon was mounting his promotion’s first major card for the CNE Coliseum in Toronto. Here Thesz battles Mike Marconi in a match taped in Toronto’s Global TV Studios, with the commentary of George Cannon & Milt Avruskin. Thesz joins Cannon along with Danny & Randy Johnson (Thanks to Inez Situ for identifying the brother team!) for a post-match interview. Enjoy!
