Eric Woodburn (1934)

No titles. Comedian Ronald Frankau dressed in glasses and Stetson hat tells a few jokes in an an American accent about a man staring at a baby in a pram (first part of sound missing so hard to get much of it). He then introduces Eric Woodburn with a pun on his surname. Fade out. Fade in to M/S of baritone and ’character artist’ Eric Woodburn, dressed as a French Legionnaire. He is standing on a set dressed to look like a section of a desert outpost and sings the stirring song ’The Legion of the Lost’. In the middle of the song Eric tells us about finding his wife with his friend Jim. He didn’t care about the wife, but found he couldn’t live without Jim! Jim killed the woman last year and is also in the French Foreign Legion (a fine state of affairs if you ask me). This is accompanied by much manic laughter. Note: title at the beginning of this reel asked the projectionist to turn up the volume for this item, especially towards the end. Duplicate exists in ’Pictorial Revue’ - see separate
