“Armenian Echoes” was a weekly radio program out of New York City during the 1950s and 60s. It featured interviews, music, and other matters of interest to the Armenian community. It was one of many shows on the station WEVD, which was known for its ethnic programming. The music on this channel is from a collection of records which belonged to my father, Stephan Gopoian, the program’s director. I’m not sure where these records came from, but my best guess is that he inherited them when “Armenian Echoes” shut down. Only a few of the people involved in the radio program are still with us, and there is scarcely any mention of it online. I believe the program deserves a little recognition and remembrance, and of course the music is a treasure. If anyone knows more about the station or the music presented here, please share in the comment section.
