Friends turned artistic collaborators Marie Khouri and Ballet BC Artistic Director Medhi Walerski spent a recent afternoon at the Vancouver Art Gallery, exploring an improvisational response to Marie’s latest exhibit in the Gallery’s 1st Floor Rotunda.
As the exhibit’s curved, interactive sculptures are discovered by visitors, so are the Arabic letters and message of the artist: ’I Love.’ Marie’s vision and reverence for movement invites a natural partnership with the world of dance.
Featuring excerpts from Medhi’s celebrated duet ’Silent Tides’ as well as improvised elements, we’re excited to share with you the result of this collaboration—brought to life through the artistry of Ballet BC dancers Sarah Pippin and Rae Srivastava.
’I Love’ is on view at the Vancouver Art Gallery till November 19, 2023.
