Thranduil’s Lament - Farewell Friend

Music composed and performed by José-Daniel Martínez. I composed this song as a 2017 Christmas gift for my wife Arabella. It was inspired by a poem found in chapter 21 of her ongoing fan-fiction story titled “The Secret of the Forest“. You can read the lyrics further below. In this scene, Thranduil, King of Mirkwood, mourns the loss of his faithful elk who has carried him to many adventures and battles. I find the narration of the scene very moving. It is enhanced with photos of mine and with fan-art created by artists whose drawings fit very well the mood of the poem. I plan to record and upload in the near future the version with voice.
