The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department sends our prayers and condolences to our brothers and sisters at the Lafayette Police Department as they mourn the loss of one of their own. We also support and wish a speedy recovery to the other officers who were injured in the line of duty. The three who were injured are currently in good condition, according to Sgt. Matthew Benoit with Lafayette Police. “During the operations, the suspect fired multiple shots at law enforcement,” Benoit said. “Four Lafayette Police officers were injured. Two officers were shot, and bullet fragments struck the other two officers. All officers involved were transported to an area hospital. Three officers are currently in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the shooting, the fourth officer was killed in the line of duty.” Louisiana State Police say they are investigating it as an officer-involved shooting. Source: Police frequency
