Pim Jacobs and Astrud Gilberto - Bossa Nova conquering the Netherlands 1962
In 1962 (Trio) Pim Jacobs (piano), Wim Overgaauw (guitar) and Ruud Jacobs (double bass), invited Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto and drummer Dom Um Romão and Dutch tenor saxophone player Ruud Brink, for a musical TV Show called “Dzjes Zien“. Which dedicaded a program to Bossa Nova.
I wasn’t even born yet, but for shure this TV Show on Bossa Nova conquered a lot of hearts of its listners.
Years later as a kid, for the first time I “consciously“ heard GETZ/GILBERTO playing on my fathers record player. I fell in love with this music . . . and Astrud. Her voice. Her accent. And above all this amazing guitar by João Gilberto.
Never changed! Never parted me.
E do danado do samba, nunca me separei! (from Samba da minha terra)
And the darn samba, never separated from me!
Songs that where played on the show:
Meditation 2:44
It might as well be spring 5:25
The telephone Song 8:46
Only trust your heart 10:18
Corcovado/Quiet nights of quiet stars 12:20
The girl from Ipanema 14:19
