Water Flea Waltz

For the first time in history, researchers at the Max Plankton Institute in the Netherlands have recorded piano music practised by a common water flea. First light of the phenomenon was obtained using darkfield microscopy. The research is expected to be nominated for the Breakthrough Of The Year-award from the prestigious journal Science, as the finding sheds a whole new perspective on the origin of live music. © Wim van Egmond, Urban Utan, Max Plankton Institute, Micropolitan Museum - 2011
