Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv improved to 2-1 in this season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season after defeating Anadolu Efes Istanbul 93-91 in Belgrade, Serbia, on Tuesday night. Led by an inspired Saben Lee, making his Maccabi debut, and Jaylen Hoard, the Israeli side showed an impressive resilience in the fourth quarter to keep Efes at arm’s length en route to a crucial victory. With this loss, Efes dropped to 1-2.
Lee ended up scoring a game-high 23 points in 22:28 minutes on the floor, while he also had 5 helpers just three days after signing for Maccabi. Hoard also had a strong showing with a season-high 18 points, with Tamir Blatt adding 14 and Jasiel Rivero netting 10. For Efes, Vincent Poirier and Jordan Nwora had their best game since joining the club this summer by posting 22 and 21 points, respectively, but it came in defeat. Darius Thompson and Rodrigue Beaubois had 10 points apiece, too.
