Krakatoa! (1933)

Krakatoa in eruption. Titles read: “Krakatoa! One of the most amazing films ever taken.“ Krakatoa, Java and Sumatra are shown on a basic map of Indonesia. Various scenic shots of the area showing the coastline and beaches, mountains and the original Krakatoa volcano. Commentator talks of the growth of a new Krakatoa that is rising up from the water of the Straits of Sunda. Several shots of the volcano erupting from the sea, shooting huge clouds of steam, black fumes and lava up into the air and into the water. A man watches the exploding volcano from a shelter on one of the nearby islands. L/S of the eruption, seen through a kind of measuring scale. M/S of the heads of three men, sticking out of an aeroplane as they fly towards the eruption. Several more shots of eruption, some taken from the air. (Followed by Pathetone end titles.)
