Slovak Troops Exercise in Latvia. Watch Slovak soldiers assigned to a NATO Battlegroup use US Black Hawk helicopters to conduct an air assault in eastern Latvia. Slovak soldiers recently demonstrated their ability to operate with other NATO Allies when they conducted an air assault using American helicopters as part of exercise Tomahawk Soaring. The US Army UH-60 Black Hawks flew the soldiers to their objective in eastern Latvia, where they linked up with Canadian and Latvian soldiers to conduct a joint assault. The soldiers belong to Stefanik Company, a Slovak Army mechanized infantry unit, currently deployed to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Latvia. Consisting of some 80 troops and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, Stefanik represents Slovakia’s first contribution to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence in eastern Europe.
