Hosts Cameroon beat Egypt 2-0 in AWCON Opener

The 2016 edition of the African Women’s Cup of nation kicked off in Cameroon on Saturday. The hosts beat Egypt 2-0 to go top of Group A. The Indomitable Lionesses came into this tie as the favourites to win the game and probably go on to challenge for this year’s title. Aboudi Onguene scored the first goal of the tournament in the 23rd minute to give the hosts the lead before Captain Cristine Manie converted a spot Kick in the 73rd minute to seal the win.
