Bombay, India. Title: “India’s New Viceroy. Glittering scenes at the Gateway of India on arrival of Lord Irwin“. M/S of a small steam boat coming into harbour, several men in white safari helmets stand on deck beneath a canopy. High angled M/S of Lord (Baron) Irwin disembarking from the boat and walking along the quayside, he accompanied by a woman carrying a parasol, his wife. Panning shot follows the couple up some stone steps where they are greeted by another couple, the man wears a white safari helmet. M/S of Lord Irwin shaking hands with a group of men in military uniforms and white safari helmets. M/S of a group of women watching the arrival ceremony from a row of chairs, some are Western and shelter under parasols, other are of Indian origin and wear beautiful saris. M/S of a procession of men in white military uniforms marching slowly down a red carpet, all wear black arm bands. Panning shot follows Lord Irwin as he marches down the red carpet, he stops and removes his helmet. M/S
