Training Lumpy to Pick Up His Feet

A few weeks ago, Bob Erickson taught a group of students at Tillers International in Scotts, Michigan, how to begin training a young donkey. He had purchased a weanling donkey he’s calling Lumpy earlier in the year and purposefully had not done any work with her until arriving at Tillers. On the first day, he introduced her to having her feet picked up, using a hobble/rope system to assist. We caught up with him on the second day when Lumpy had become much more willing to lift her feet. Finally, at the end of this video, we will see Bob pick up Lumpy’s feet without any assistance at all.
