Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin - Александр Порфирьевич Бородин (1833-1887)
Scherzo in Ab Major - скерцо Ля-бемоль (1885)
Alexander Borodin maintained a musical career alongside his occupation as a highly successful chemist. The Scherzo in A-flat serves as a concise showcase of his inimitable style, and shares a number of stylistic features with his ultimately uncompleted opera, Prince Igor (particularly its Polovtsian Dances).
