Gion Matsuri Omukae Chochin Performance

This is a video showing the lovely performances performed for the Omukae Chochin parade of the Gion Festival. The Omukae Chochin Parade takes place on July 10th and is filled with colorful and exotic costumes. The ceremony is performed to welcome back the Mikoshi (portable shrine) after the Mikoshi purification ritual takes place on the Shijo-Ohashi bridge. Before the ceremony, there is a parade which starts from Yasaka Shrine then proceeds to the City hall and back again.
