Taliban flag raised at border crossing with Tajikistan

Footage taken by Tajikistan locals in the town of Khorog shows the Taliban hoisting a flag on the border-crossing bridge over the Panj river. Since NATO troops began withdrawing from Afghanistan, Western security officials say the Taliban has captured more than 100 districts in the country. The Taliban puts that number at over 200. Main cities and provincial capitals remain under government control. The Taliban also took control of Afghanistan’s main border crossing with Tajikistan last month, the lucrative Sher Khan Bandar crossing, after hundreds of Afghan troops surrendered, and more than 1,000 fled across the border. President Rahmon of Tajikistan sent 20,000 reinforcements to the area and the Tajik government said it was preparing for a mass influx of civilian refugees. Follow us on Telegram /
