3-dimensional hip stretch for lower back pain relief | Ed Paget

A simple way to stretch your lower back and hips. This follow-along routine combines a little bit of yoga with 3-dimensional exercises I teach in my online courses to managing scoliosis. Lower back pain can happen due to tight hips and vice-versa, so when you stretch, you can get relief in both areas. An easy way to start stretching your hips is going on all fours and gently trying to rock your hips back and for in the sagittal plane as if you are doing a child’s pose from yoga. Ensure you have a flat back (right in the middle) aligned with your hips, and widen your knees as much as possible. Once you start moving, you might feel a stretch in the glute area and slowly up into your lower back. When you start feeling the hips are losing up, you can vary the distance between your knees and feet and how far your hips go backward and forward.
