It’s patient, methodical, deceptively simple in its approach to storytelling, but absolutely magnificent in its technical prowess. Shots are long and well staged, making the best use of its constrained physical environments and the sheer number of characters at play at any given moment. Today I’ll look at some of the ways director Sidney Lumet approached his take on Murder on the Orient Express, while also making a few comparisons to the 2017 remake of the film.
