Eihachi Ota, a 9th degree master in Okinawan Shorin-ryu karate demonstrates the art of Okinawan kobudo (weapons). Here, the 66-year old sensei performs the kata (form) “Kihon Kata Ichi“ (first basic form) using an Okinawan weapon known as the “tunfa“. This basic kata is being performed at an advanced speed. Sensei Ota stresses that a karate student must first learn fundamentals step-by-step before they can perform at this level.
This video was created as part of a larger series of instructional videos with Sensei Ota detailing the art and practice of Okinawan kobudo.
