Wrotham Secondary School, Kent.
Children are taught about farm animals and plants at this secondary school. Children are seen tending to pigs, cows and goats. Pigs are fed and children sit outside with rabbits and a goat. A cow is milked and a cow given medicine. A teacher shows children something in a goat’s foot.
Children are seen at work in a greenhouse. Narrator observes that the children aren’t impoverished Percy Throwers or Ralph Whitemans - learning about animals and plants also helps with their normal lessons. A young goat is used in a maths lesson - the teacher stands at the blackboard as the children are encouraged to work out the value of the goat. This “makes arithmetic mean something and therefore makes it interesting.“
Shots of a young boy who is sitting at a school desk holding a hamster under the desk. Unlike a normal school where presumably he would be told off, at this school bringing pets in is encouraged.
