First part of my blog on building a PRS-style guitar body and neck that I bought on ebay.
The body and neck were bought from a Chinese guitar builder () and including shipping it came to about £115.
I ordered on a Thursday and it was at my office about 5 working days later - amazing, considering it’s travelled half way around the world! The body was well finished straight out of the box. The only things that need doing aside from general finish sanding, are the fret ends need a tiny bit of filing and the spaces for the knobs had a bit of wood burn from being drilled out - these took a few hours of sanding to get rid of the majority of the black burn marks.
As mentioned, I’ll be inking using water-based black ink, then sanding back so the grain holds the ink and looks a hit more like flamed maple. Then I’ll go over with violet ink and then I’ll think about clear coat, either Tru-Oil or nitrocellulose.
