La Victrolera DJing for Alberto Castillo

According to Matt Mateo: There are tons of stories in tango that are difficult to prove. But one that is almost certain is that the earliest tango DJs were women (though not exactly in the same way we think of DJs today). They were given the nickname of “La Victrolera“ (the ’c’ was dropped in the pronunciation) as the woman that works the Victrola, the name of a record player made by the Victor company.
