A short video of the 30x173mm Tungsten Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot Tracer round made by Honeywell. First part of the video showing a cross-section of a chrome-lined 30mm GAU-8 Avenger barrel piece, then sliding the 30mm APFSDST round into the chamber. Once round is fired, showing the projectile heading down the bore, then leaving the muzzle, and penetrator discarding its 4 aluminum sabot penetrator is off to the races at 5,000 feet per second! The APFSDST round was developed for use in the GAU-8 rotary autocannon installation in the 30mm Goalkeeper CIWS, and later authorized for use in the 30mm Bushmaster II chain gun. #shorts
