Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: Antigone Rising began in the mid 1990’s in Greenwich Village, New York by founders and sisters Cathy Henderson-Guitar and Kristen Henderson aka Ellis-Henderson on guitar and drums, along with Penelope Kokines-Vocals and Suzanne Obolsky-Vocals and percussion the original line up played a more folk rock and released their debut album in 1996 and another in 1998, by this time hard rocking drummer Dena Tauriello replaced Kristen on drums and the band soon changed to a more rock sound with the addition of new vocalist Susan H Catanzaro aka Cassidy, in 1999 and bassist Ann-Marie Stehn, this new line up minus Suzanne Obolsky, would go on to produce four more albums all of which were fan funded, during this time Stehn would be replaced on bass guitar by Jen Zielenbach and two live albums were put out before releasing the band’s break out hit album “From The Ground Up“ in 2005.
