Port Douglas prepares ahead of Cyclone Jasper’s landfall

Port Douglas Mayor Michael Kerr discusses the town’s preparations ahead of Cyclone Jasper’s expected landfall Wednesday afternoon. Mr Kerr noted the storm’s wind factor is a major concern for residents. “So clearing everything from your backyards – making sure you pick up all those palm fronds that may be laying around, any garden furniture, outdoor furniture,” he told Sky News Australia. “Anything that can become a weapon that will fly through the air and smash windows and possibly cause damage and hurt people. “And of course, those people that are in those areas that could possibly be inundated with water – get those sandbags.”
