Kodiak Songscape behind the scenes: the making of Century Trail by KT Tunstall

Inspired by her musical residency at Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, singer-songwriter KT Tunstall composed an original song titled “Century Trail,” released on April 21, 2023. This “songscape“ is part of a program created by Sustain Music and Nature, an organization that collaborates with musicians and public land agencies to create art. This video shares some footage behind the scenes of Tunstall’s week in Kodiak and some of her inspiration and song-writing process. For more information about the refuge: The song lyrics reference several aspects of her experience: fishing, learning a traditional Alutiiq beadwork pattern, enjoying public lands, and gaining a better understanding of Alutiiq culture and history.
