Anniversary of Chemical Bombing of Sardasht

Today, June 28, is the 33rd anniversary of chemical attacks by the Iraqi Ba’ath regime on the northwestern city of Sardasht. On June 28, 1987, Iraq bombarded four crowded points of Sardasht, killing 119 innocent civilians and exposing more than 8,000 others to toxic gases, which maimed them for life. Hiroshima, Japan, was the first city bombarded with atomic weapons, and Sardasht in Iran was the first city attacked with chemical ones. The US and Europeans are complicit in this crime because they supported and provided Saddam Hussein with weaponry, and materials, and equipment for producing chemical weapons.
