Breathing Exercises Tai Chi Diagram Coherent Breathing
Taiji Diagram leads us to inhale and exhale “coherently“. Exhale as the ball drops and inhale as the ball rises. Timing is ~12 seconds per cycle or ~6 seconds per inhalation and ~6 seconds per exhalation. Coherent Breathing protocol calls for equal periods of inhalation and exhalation. The red ball represents oxygenated blood flowing to the extremities, the blue ball represents venous blood returning the chest to be recycled.
When periods are equal and breathing continues, it sets up a large wave in the circulation, this being the Valsalva Wave. It 2013 it was confirmed that the brain experiences this wave, the Tai Chi diagram appearing much like a wave. This confirmation changes everything we know about breathing.
