Manitoba Water Bombers Scooping at Pelican Lake

*Photos of this can be found on my Facebook page, link below!* Manitoba Water Bombers 256 and 258 conducting water scooping operations at Pelican Lake, just east of Ninette on May 18th. The pair of Canadair CL-415’s were helping to fight the intense wildfire that was in the Shilo/Carberry area, and had burned more than 15,000 hectares. Numerous fire departments, government contracted agencies and locals were working to help contain the fire and keep it away from nearby houses that were put on evacuation notice. Some homes to the south of Carberry had been evacuated, but have since been able to return to their homes. As of this morning, the fire had been declared “under control by the Provincial Incident Management Team“ according to the Town of Carberry & Municipality of North Cypress-Langford. Awesome to hear the fire is now more stable than it was, and it was a pleasure being able to see these birds working up close. Very skilled pilots! Facebook:
