Satsuma Heki Ryu Koshiya Kumiyumi, also known as Satsuma Heki School of Archery, was established by Heki Danjo Masatsugu during the Muromachi period. However, as guns became more common in battle, archery gradually became neglected. Satsuma Heki Ryu Koshiya Ryu is a former school of Kenjutsu (Kyudo) in Satsuma, Prefecture of Kagoshima. The school’s strategy of combat is called Koshiya, which involves forming groups of archers to attack their enemies in an alternative and constant manner while advancing on them.
