This movie depicts Ca. Epulopiscium viviparus cells swimming on a microscope slide immediately after removal from the gut of the bulbnose unicornfish (Naso tonganus).
In the plane of view are both stationary and fast-moving cells, along with debris.
Cells rotate around their long axis and reversing direction coincides with reverses the cell rotation.
The slide contains young cells that have yet to develop large internal daughter cells.
