1885 Train Station Burns! 2 Trains Passing It At Same Time Indiana & Ohio Railway (Flashback) In Oh

Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Train Station Is Destroyed By Fire! We See The Last Train That I Filmed Passing The Station & We See 2 Trains Passing The Station At The Same Time. CSX Owned The 1885 Station And Indiana And Ohio Railway Operates The Tracks On Both Sides Of It. Railroad Maintenance Of Way Equipment Is Seen Leaving The Station & Passing An Interesting Railroad Crossing Near Blanchester, Ohio. The train station is just east of Blanchester in the small town of Midland City. The station actually lasted several years past the date that it was supposed to be torn down. Plans to demolish it were cancelled due to the virus a few years back. The area that it is located has had numerous structure fires over the years and it always surprised me that the vandals didn’t target the station. I knew every time that I filmed it might be my last. If it didn’t finally get torn down the vandals might hit. This videos shows some of my favorite trains passing the station. I was here one time a few years ago when two trains passed the station at the same time. That had to be rare. Not many trains use either line. The Midland Sub that runs on the north side of the station only sees about 2-4 trains a day with half of them running in the dark. The Greenfield Sub runs on the south side of the station and is owned by the village of Greenfield, Ohio. It is somewhere around 26 miles long and short locals pass by on the Greenfield sub several days a week. These trains only have a single Geep and just a handful of cars. The track east of Greenfield was removed in the 80s. Amtrak used this line in the late 70s and I rode Amtrak on it going to and from Orlando, Florida. I also rode the Chessie Steam Special past the station to Greenfield and back to Cincinnati in the late 70s. We rode an I&O dinner train from Midland to Greenfield and back somewhere around 1988 but I can’t remember the actual year. We got our tickets from inside the train station. That is probably the last time that the train station was used for a passenger train. Regular passenger service stopped about 1956. If anyone can give me accurate information about this station please leave a comment and I will update the info. The train station was reported on fire around 2am on January 1, 2024. It took 4 fire departments about 2 hours to put the fire out. I filmed this the next day. There was a piece of maintenance of way equipment sitting on the track when I arrived. We see it start up and run west toward Blanchester. I chased it to a railroad crossing that uses the radio on to notify the crew that the crossing gates are activated and it notifies them when the gates are deactivated. We hear the transmission on my radio as it deactivates. Have you ever seen a crossing like this? We also see the Greenfield local leave Blanchester and go past the station on its way to work Huhtamaki in New Vienna, Ohio. This line also has Candle Lite in Leesburg and Adient US in Greenfield at the end of track. The last mile or so of track is actually a small piece of Detroit, Toledo & Ironton track that runs north to Adient US. See my Indiana & Ohio Railway playlist for more videos on this line. I have some great videos of the Greenfield Sub including railroad switching at Candle Lite in Leesburg. I have videos that show the switchback track in Greenfield, the low bridge there over a public road and the giant railroad bridge over Paint Creek. Filmed Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching! Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.
