Almost two years after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, winter is once again worsening conditions for civilians and for soldiers. Hopes of a successful counteroffensive have been dashed. Instead, Ukraine is facing renewed pressure on the battlefield - while Kyiv’s allies have scaled back pledges of new aid.
