MB&F Horological Machine No6 Final Edition

Back in November 2014, when MB&F launched Horological Machine No.6 – aka HM6 Space Pirate – they announced they would manufacture only 100 movements in total of this radical Machine. Today, they announce the HM6 Final Edition, just four years after its first steps – testament to the startling success of such an unconventional wristwatch. What made it so successful? Was it the out-of-this-world 475-component movement, developed entirely from scratch, with revolving hour and minute spheres driven by conical gears? Maybe the platinum winding rotor regulated by twin aluminium turbines? Perhaps the flying 60-second tourbillon under its sapphire crystal dome, with retractable “hyperspace” shield? Or quite simply the wild case, born from our childhood memories of Japanese sci-fi cartoons? The HM6 Space Pirate was first launched in titanium; 50 pieces, followed by 18 pieces in rose gold. Then came the two “SV/Sapphire Vision” editions: 10 pieces in platinum and 10 in rose gold. Last but not least, you may remember the four “Alien Nation” Pièces Uniques: crafted entirely in sapphire crystal, each with its crew of miniature aliens. The remaining 8 movements go to today’s Final Edition. What makes the HM6 Final Edition special? First, a case in stainless steel – a very rare metal in MB&F’s production. Second, polished grooves run along the biomorphic case, accentuating the curves of the unreasonably challenging HM6 body. Dark blue hour and minute spheres match the blue winding rotor. And finally, a more generous central dome, allowing an even better panoramic view of the flying tourbillon.
