Sharksploitation (2023) Exclusive Trailer - Shudder’s Shark Horror Documentary Premieres July 21

Sharksploitation is a brand new Shudder Original Documentary, and it’ll begin streaming on Shudder on July 21 in the United States, Canada, UK, and Australia/New Zealand. In the wake of blockbuster classic Jaws, a new subgenre was born. This new documentary explores the weird, wild cinematic legacy of sharks on film and the world’s undying fascination. Steven Spielberg’s horror classic Jaws celebrates its 48th anniversary this summer, the film credited for not only launching a wave of shark attack imitators that still continues to this day but also creating the modern day summer blockbuster as we know it. Hardly a year has gone by since 1975 where there wasn’t a new shark attack horror movie to consume, and this year is no exception. The Black Demon was just unleashed in theaters a couple months back, while films including The Devil’s Mouth, Deep Water, and even Cocaine Shark are on the way soon. Shudder’s Sharksploitation will presumably cover everything from the Jaws sequels to more recent hits like The Shallows, touching upon Deep Blue Sea, The Reef, Shark Night, Bait, Sharktopus, Sharknado, 47 Meters Down, and countless others along the way. Stephen Scarlata (Jodorowsky’s Dune) directed Sharksploitation for Shudder. Watch FREE horror streaming 24/7 on Bloody Disgusting TV!
